Energy Engineer/Analyst: Internship or Full-time:

Your Role

  • Perform/Assist in energy efficiency analyses for ASHRAE Level I, II, and III, and Local Law 87 energy audits and retro‑commissioning

  • Perform/Assist feasibility, energy savings, and cost-benefit financial analyses for complex projects

  • Create building-wide energy reduction plans by conducting energy use analyses of building and facility systems using analytical tools

  • Leverage potential rebate, financial, and loan initiatives to support project implementation

  • Test and retro-commission building systems to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws (i.e., Local Law 87 & Local Law 97)

  • Utilize energy and audit experience to generate ideas and analytical tools for ECMs

  • Communicate energy reduction plans and support in meetings with clients, such as management companies, building owners, and building staff

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related is required

  • Previous/ continuous experience in the energy sector (Not Mandatory for Internship)

  • Understanding of energy efficiency concepts, HVAC systems, and renewable energy systems

  • Multifamily Building Analyst (MFBA), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or equivalent

  • Travel primarily within New York City

  • Self-motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required

  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment, and to proactively identify problems and solutions

Scholarship Opportunities

As part of our ongoing efforts to welcome more students and new professionals into our programs and community, NESEA is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2024 BE the Future scholarship cycle from students and emerging professionals.

ASHRAE LI Chapter Scholarship (CLOSED)

The ASHRAE's Long Island Chapter awards up to (2) $1,000.00 or (1) $1,000.00 and (2) $500.00 scholarships annually to those who are well-rounded and show an interest in pursuing an engineering career.  When the application form is released (around late January), we will share it here for students to apply.

ASHRAE Student Scholarship (CLOSED)

The ASHRAE Society Scholarship Program offers over $50,000 in scholarship funds every year and we want every student to have an opportunity!

 

For clarification, here is what is required from students in order to be eligible:

  • 3 letters of recommendation

  • An updated official transcript sent one of three ways:

    1. Paper mail (using the address in my signature)

    2. Have your registrar’s office send an official transcript via password protected email

    3. Mailing service (i.e., Parchment)

  • Student must be undergraduate and full-time.

  • The university the student is attending must have an ASHRAE Student Branch or be ABET accredited. Visit this link for more information on ABET accreditation: https://www.abet.org/
