Data Science

We are seeking a data scientist research assistant for the EnTech lab. If you're interested in joining us this semester, kindly complete the following task by Monday, Feb 12th, at 11 pm for further evaluation and email it to ehsan.kamel@nyit.edu with the subject line "Data Science @ EnTech":

 

  • Here, you'll find two folders, each containing 10 HTML files, featuring a "Site and Source Energy" table.

  • Your task involves writing a Python script to:

    • Extract these tables and save their data into a CSV file.

    • Generate two distribution graphs per folder, showcasing the Total Site Energy based on Energy Per Conditioned Building Area (EUI).

    • Produce a comparative distribution graph for the EUI across corresponding files from both folders (e.g., File 1 in Folder A vs. File 1 in Folder B).

    • Please base your work on reasonable assumptions.

 

Submit a zipped folder containing:

 

  • Your CV, indicating your remaining semesters at New York Tech.

  • The source Python code, with comprehensive comments.

  • The three graphs as specified.

  • A 300-word explanation of your code, highlighting the total simulation time measured.

Image Processing

We are seeking a data scientist research assistant for the EnTech lab. If you're interested in joining us this semester, kindly complete the following task by Monday, Feb 12th, at 11 pm for further evaluation and email it to ehsan.kamel@nyit.edu with the subject line "Image Processing @ EnTech":

Create a Python script to:

  1. Load aerial images from a folder (any dataset with any sizes can be used).

  2. Resize all images to 256x256 pixels.

  3. Flip each image horizontally.

  4. Divide the images into two groups: 80% for training and 20% for testing.

  5. Use Python's PyTorch library to train a basic model on these images, aiming to identify whether an image is daytime or nighttime.

  6. There are no strict guidelines on the accuracy or other metrics reported

 

Your script should:

  • Be written in Python using PyTorch.

  • Include clear comments explaining each part of the process.

  • Briefly describe how you would improve this process using machine learning operations (MLOps) tools.

Job Description: Seeking a skilled individual to manage and update our lab's Wix website. Responsibilities include content update, design optimization, and ensuring website functionality aligns with our lab's goals and user needs. The ideal candidate will maintain our site, ensuring it is visually appealing, easy to navigate, and up-to-date with our latest research and activities.
